PE coated aluminum sheets and PVC coated aluminum sheets both belong to surface-coated aluminum sheets. The core base material is aluminum alloy sheet. The core differences lie in the coating materials: PE has "weather resistance, processability, stability" as its core advantages, suitable for outdoor, complex environments and scenarios requiring processing; PVC has "decorativeness, low cost, scratch resistance" as its core advantages, suitable for short-term indoor decoration and scenarios with limited budgets. 

 

PE Coated Aluminum Sheet
Key Advantages:

  • 1. Excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance, suitable for outdoor and harsh environments;
  • 2. Good flexibility, strong processing adaptability, can meet complex shape requirements;
  • 3. High long-term stability, low maintenance cost;
  • 4. More environmentally friendly, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Main disadvantages:

  • 1. Poor surface hardness, low scratch resistance, and prone to leaving marks;
  • 2. The decorative texture lacks立体感, and the visual effect is slightly inferior to PVC；
  • 3. The production cost is higher than that of PVC coated aluminum sheets (cost of PE coating + high temperature curing is high)

 

PVC coated aluminum coil

Key Advantages:

  • 1. High surface hardness and scratch resistance, making it unlikely to be damaged during daily use;
  • 2. Strong three-dimensional texture and vivid colors, enhancing the decorative effect;
  • 3. Lower production cost (the PVC film raw materials are inexpensive and the coating process is simple).

Main disadvantages:

  • 1. Poor weather resistance, prone to aging outdoors and short service life;
  • 2. Poor flexibility, limited processing capabilities, unable to create complex shapes;
  • 3. Poor heat resistance, prohibited for use in high-temperature environments;
  • 4. Non-environmentally friendly products may release harmful substances, need strict screening.

Purchase Suggestions
For outdoor long-term use (such as on exterior walls, outdoor advertisements): Preferentially choose PE coated aluminum sheets, and make sure the PE coating is of "weather-resistant" type; If it is for indoor decoration and the budget is limited (such as ordinary wardrobes, display cases): You can choose PVC coated aluminum sheets, but you need to request the supplier to provide "environmental testing report" (RoHS, GB 18585); If complex processing is required (such as bending, stamping): You must choose PE coated aluminum sheets; PVC coated aluminum sheets are prone to cracking; If it is in a high-temperature environment (such as kitchen, around heat sources): PVC coated aluminum sheets are strictly prohibited; PE coated aluminum sheets should be the priority choice.

 

Maintenance Suggestions

PE Coated Aluminum Sheet: Wipe with clean water or neutral cleaner on a daily basis. Avoid using hard-bristled brushes (to prevent scratches). For outdoor use, clean once every 1-2 years to extend the service life.

PVC Coated Aluminum Sheet: Avoid contact with high temperatures (such as hot water basins, ovens). When cleaning, use a dry cloth or weakly alkaline cleaner. Do not use strong solvents (such as gasoline). Outdoor use requires checking once every six months. If the coating cracks, replace it immediately.
